Framer, a no-code website builder, has reached a $2 billion valuation after closing a $100 million Series D funding round. This milestone reflects the company's growing influence in the competitive landscape of website-building platforms. The round was led by existing investors Meritech and Atomico, marking a significant step forward for the Amsterdam-based company.
Framer boasts more than half a million monthly active users and positions itself as "the website builder loved by designers." Unlike traditional static pages, Framer enables the creation of dynamic websites that teams can easily update without relying on developer support. CEO and co-founder Koen Bok emphasized the platform's focus on empowering businesses, stating, "With this funding, we’re doubling down on enterprise growth and AI, so any company can confidently run their entire website on Framer."
A Growing Enterprise Focus
The company has made significant strides in the enterprise market over the past year, with businesses now accounting for the majority of its new customers. Framer has attracted prominent clients such as Miro, Perplexity, and Scale AI, as well as 40% of the most recent Y Combinator batch. To better serve enterprise users, Framer has added analytics and security features, aiming to help companies manage their entire web presence.
Framer’s business growth is also evident in its financial performance. According to the company, it has reached $50 million in annual recurring revenue and aims to surpass $100 million next year. "We’ve been break-even for the past year", Bok told TechCrunch, highlighting the company’s financial stability as it scales.
A Competitive Landscape
Framer’s rise comes during a period of heightened interest in website-building tools, with competitors like Figma, Squarespace, and Wix vying for market share. Emerging "vibe coding" platforms such as Cursor and Lovable are also gaining traction. However, Framer continues to differentiate itself with features geared toward designers, ensuring that websites built with its platform stand out visually.
Founded by Koen Bok and Jorn van Dijk, who previously sold their design studio to Facebook in 2011, Framer has steadily expanded its capabilities and market presence since its inception. In 2023, the company raised a $27 million Series C funding round, also led by Meritech, though the valuation at the time was not disclosed.
With its latest funding and a strong focus on enterprise solutions, Framer is well-positioned to solidify its place as a major player in the website-building industry. As Bok noted, the company’s vision is to help businesses "run their entire .com" with ease and efficiency.
